Billy Drease : Good Morning Amy
Billy Drease Williams’ debut full length album, Good Morning Amy, illustrates hopes of restoration and revitalization of the simpler things that matter: Life, love and inspiration through rhythm and word. The album paints a vibrant, thought-provoking and inspirational narrative, combining gritty old school New York Hip Hop with a backdrop of soulful and classically inspired production, resulting in the contemporary equivalent of a Deepak Chopra book with the momentum of a Kanye West album.
The question then becomes, “Who is Amy?” Billy Drease answers, “Everyone has an Amy! Amy is the personification of one’s goals, desires and ambitions. Amy is what motivates a person every morning to reach their personal best. She is our deepest wish within which we find our own burning passion.” Good Morning Amy is a healing soundtrack to self-motivation, daily gratitude, positive thinking and goal attainment. As indicated in the title track, “Every morning is a moment where you got to make a choice to be good or be great; to be love or be hate, but the choice is yours.”

Fresh Guac : The Gang Green LP
Modern guacamole comes in a variety of forms and the same can be said about Fresh Guac. Let’s not get it twisted, the 2 are completely different. For one, you can’t eat hip-hop music, but you can dip your hips, much like you can dip the chip. Furthermore, you can rock out to both the edible version of Guacamole and the audible version at a party. So, we feel the title is just and well worthy of comparison. The Spaniards stole the recipe from the Aztecs and they stole the musical version from NYC, but it all equates to good feelings, vibes and relativity. As you listen to this record, think about the metaphor between the edible and audible Guacamole…It’s made from the heart, soul and culture from which it originated. The sound is undoubtedly fresh and without comparison, so when you finally get the chance to indulge, you’ll know its Fresh Guac!
Cav on the mic, Covert on the beats and Optimus Prime on the decks supply the ingredients, but at the end of the day it’s still Fresh Guac. Yes, the term Fresh Guac is used to describe the sound and not the gentleman who create it. The name of the group should not only be the emblem, but also the spine and that is what makes the group so unique. For over 2+years the Guaconians have provided sweat to the studio, to bring you this classic record filled with delectables. So, without further metaphorical comparisons, we bring you “The Gang Green LP”. Grab your Guacamole and dip your chips, cause this is that ish..Easy!

Billy Drease Williams : Good Evening Billy CD
A profoundly versatile collection, Good Evening Billy has something to satisfy whatever your taste buds may desire. Each track is a work of art in its own right. The syncopated rhythms of the leadoff track “Oh No” demand you to move your body; while on “Purple,” Billy Drease speaks on
the hardships of not just his hometown of Buffalo, New York, but the nation as a whole; and calls all people to start taking more responsibility for what is
going on around them.
Whether it’s the smooth soulful feel of “I Like It” or the hard-hitting scratching on “Fresh,” Good Evening Billy will certainly give you something you’ve been searching for.
Born and raised in Buffalo, Billy Drease Williams is a multi-talented artist, a voice of change, a narrator of current affairs, and an all around Renaissance man. The album is unlike any other: bringing together vintage hip hop
beats, soul-ripened horn riffs, smooth piano melodies, turntablism and innovative instrumentation that’ll make you nod your head and shake your body. It’s pure genius.

Billy Drease Williams + DJ Lopro : CLASSICS
One emcee, one DJ, no featured rappers! How unheard of is that!? When you pick up your favorite rappers CD, you’ll often wonder who’s album you actually purchased due to each song having a darned featured rapper or singer on it. Well the CLASSIC is nearly 60 minutes in length of some of the most creatively written and jaw-dropping rhymes to date from Edreys, capturing the definition of emceeing. Also, DJ LoPro cleverly mixed these 20 burning “hot” tracks with interludes, original sampled songs along with cuts and scratches, exhibiting what DJ’s are supposed to do, which is move the crowd and give you some ear candy.
On this CD, Edreys aka Billy Drease Williams, refreshes the “Freshest” of songs that we remember and hold dear, with all new original lyrics and a performance all their own as not to try and recreate a classic song, but reclaiming the sound.

Gr& Phee and Rhyson Hall are Detained @ The Border CD
FROM BESTOFWNY.com
-Buffalo’s premier hip hop label DeepThinka Records has dropped the latest from GR& and Rhyson Hall tilted Detained At The Border. Mixing mad beats and dope rhymes the conceptual piece simulates a trip over the Canadian border for a show in Toronto and the problems going down. Some of the guests dropping by to help include DJ Cutler, Vander, Natwheat, Covert, Pseudo Slang, Eternia and many other artists. GR& Phee and Hall hit their groove on the tracks “The Movement”, “Womens (The Good and The Bad)” and “Do You Have Anything 2 Declare?” Others include “The Late Show” that bounces on a nice piano coda, “Home Skillet” which deals with the state of the Buffalo and Toronto hip hop scene and “Yonge Stretch Interlude” which breaks things up with some levity. -Bob Silvestri

Ripsquad: Illa Godz CD
ONLY A FEW COPIES LEFT! Debut album from Cleveland superemcees Ripsquad (aka Rime Royal)
from CLEVELAND SCENE:
While Ripsquad rappers Speed (Robert Hill) and Furious (Jayson Floyd) have been working together for six years, they have released only one single prior to this, their full-length debut. But that single, 1998's "Ice Water/Ultimate Dialect," established the duo as one of Cleveland's best-kept hip-hop secrets. Not concerned with rapping about jewelry and cars, Ripsquad is, in its own words, a "throwback to when rap albums not only had replay value but made you want to listen from start to finish." Clocking in at just over 65 minutes, the 15 tracks on Illa Godz really do function as a whole.
Ripsquad has the indie attitude and poetic aspirations you'll find in albums on labels such as Rawkus and Ark 75. The scratchy string arrangements that run through songs such as "Squad's Theme III (Beats to the Rhyme)," "Sycamore," and "Petty Cash" recall the RZA's work with the Wu-Tang Clan; the title track has something that sounds like a Portishead sample percolating in the background; and the Prince Paul-inspired "4.2 40" has a perky beat that displays the group's sense of humor. There are a few missteps here -- the Too Short knockoff "Fleetwood Caddies" doesn't flow smoothly enough, and the phone conversation that bookends "Jewel of the Nile" is an inside joke that doesn't translate. But the occasional lulls don't detract from the album's overall appeal. Even a fake news report about an invasion of Cleveland by wack MC-eating monsters in "Freedom Writers" doesn't suggest the group has exceeded its limits -- Ripsquad backs up its boasting with a heady array of quirky samples, fierce rhymes, and dense beats.

Immortal Mic Union: O.R.I.O.N.
DTR and IMU's debut album! Back in stock!!
FROM MVREMIX.COM:
Over the years, many "crews" have come out of what we call the underground. These generally fall into one of two categories: a bunch of rejects coming out after one guy has mediocre success (see Ruff Ryders) or a collective of similarly minded MCs who come out at the same time (see Wu-Tang). The Immortal Micunion fall into the second category, as this group of hip-hoppers from Ohio's Deep Thinka Records. 'O.R.I.O.N.' is not really an album as such, but 5 IMU cuts, 5 singles from Deep Thinka, a remix of IMU's title track, and an intro to boot.
While the emcees all come tight, the production is the strong point of this release. Heavy drums with interesting samples laid over define the music on 'O.R.I.O.N.' and they all manage to be of a high standard. Personal favorites on here include the title track (by the whole IMU) and 'Trilogy' (by Deck of Cards). The fact that the production is done by several different guys (Tone X, Furious, Lamek and Michael The Archangel) yet still remains consistent makes it more impressive.
